Instrument Person

The function of the Instrument Person is to perform assigned duties and be a supporting member of the survey party.  Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

-    Performs pre-departure "routine" including: loading equipment and supplies into truck, upload (receive) job for the day or download (give to) job from the day before.

-    Operates total station, data collection devices, and levels.

-    Performs relevant tasks during reconnaissance, traverse, and level work.

-    Performs end of day duties including: unload equipment, charge instrument and radio batteries, etc.

-    Use appropriate "public relations" techniques when dealing with clients, observers, and passers-by.

-    Follow established work instructions for this position.

Candidate must possess a high school diploma.  This position requires the ability to exchange ideas by means of verbal and written communication and the capability of understanding fundamental math skills.  Must be able to lift supplies and equipment no more than 60 pounds.  The position is an out of the office position, and it requires an individual to work in the outdoors during all types of weather conditions and temperatures.

Rod/Chain Person

The function of the rod/chain person is to perform duties assigned and be a supporting member of the survey party.  Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

-    Performs pre-departure "routine".

-    Provides support for reconnaissance, traverse, stake out, and level loop operations.

-    Uses appropriate public relations techniques when dealing with clients, observers, and passersby.

-    Follows established work instructions for the position.

Party Chief

The function of the Party Chief is to lead, instruct, and direct the survey party.  Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

-    Receives and executes daily job/work assignment(s).

-    Supervises survey party members.

-    Develops and assigns party members' work instructions.

-    Develops and directs reconnaissance, traverse loop, level loop, and stake out procedures.

-    Records and maintains adequate, job specific field notes include level notes, traverse notes, improvement dimensions, and sketches.

-    Oversees safety of operations for the survey party.

-    Monitors condition and calibration of equipment.

-    Use appropriate "public relations" techniques when dealing with clients, observers, and passers-by.

-    Follow established work instructions for this position.

This position requires a high school diploma plus field experience as an instrument person and rod/chain person.  Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of verbal and written communication.  Must possess fundamental and higher level (algebra and trigonometry) math skills.  Proficiency in data collection process and familiarity with modern survey equipment required.  Must be able to lift supplies and equipment no more than 60 pounds.  The position is an out of the office position, and it requires an individual to work in the outdoors during all types of weather conditions and temperatures.

CAD Technician

The function of a CAD Technician is to assemble plans using AutoCAD with assistance from project engineers, surveyors, and project managers.  Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

-    Follows instructions from project managers to complete jobs quickly and accurately.

-    Prepares finished plans following Township or Borough ordinances and County standards.

-    Checks plans for any design conflicts i.e. storm water, grading, etc. and brings them to the attention of the project manager.

-    Instructs new CAD operators in the company's standards and procedures.

-    Maintains archived CAD files.

This position requires a high school diploma and a minimum of a two year degree in computer drafting technology and/or one year experience with a background in civil/site drafting and design.  Must be able to read and convey design information provided by design staff and be a team player.  Should have solid written and verbal communication skills.  Knowledge of basic computer operations is required.  Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
